COUNSELLING DATES FOR ICET,EAMCET

The State Higher Education Council chairman, Prof. K. C. Reddy, on Wednesday stated that the counselling for Integrated Common Entrance Test candidates will
begin on August 19.

Talking to media persons, Prof. Reddy said thecounselling, which was scheduled to begin on July 19, was postponed due to some unavoidable circumstances.

The professor said that the going might get tough for ICET students since more than 1,50,000 studentshave cleared the qualifying examinations.

The Council chairman said the counselling forengineering students who had cleared the Eamcet will be held on August 29.

The Eamcet counselling was delayed due to allotment of ranks tocandidates and sanction of a large number of colleges by AICTE despite the state government sending signals against it.

The officials, who expected less than 10,000 seats to be added this year, were surprised that the AICTE gave the nod for the addition of nearly 30,000 more seats by giving permission to new colleges and increasing the intake in the existing institutions.
